So Im speaking briefly on confession this weekend. (If you are from Chicago and you are reading this post - STOP and wait post youth councils)

Here's the thing with confession. Its a discipline, not an option. I used to be the queen of not confessing. Not a wise deciition, let me tell you. Keeping death hidden and undercover does not solve anything - just makes it worse. And as cliche as that sounds I can provide countless examples of this - ask me and Id be more then happy to provide (right confession is good for the soul). James tells us confession brings healing. And if confession brings healing then not confessing brings death. Jesus says the truth will set you free. Confession is the purest point of truth.

Also if we are not practicing confession then we are opening ourselves up to enemy attack. By not being vulnerable with eachother we leave ourselves vulnerable to enemy attack.

The Catholics get this discipline of Holy Confession- I dont know enough about it to write out now...but maybe Ill research it a bit and come back with some juicy details..haha.

Why don't we confess? Simple, we dont want to look 'bad'...or have others think of us differently. Well the solution to that is just as simple - obedience (which is just a more commonly accepted word for Holiness). If you are Holy then you have nothign to confess and if you have nothing to confess then you cant look bad.

So get Holy - if not - confess so you can be healed...just dont sit around in death.

So I got evangelised to by Mormans the other day. Or as I was recently corrected proselytized.
They know what they are doing, not enough to convince me or anything, but enough to have me re-examine how I do.

The conversation went as such:

"I didnt know the Salvation Army was a religion, I thought it was just a thrift store"

(the first question was to see where I was personally at, I answered that we arent a religion by any means, but we are a denomenation of the Christian Church...but I answered what they wanted, they wanted to know my belief first - thats a good way to approach evangelism, first find out what the other person actually beleives)

"So what is The Salvation Army's idea of the purpose of life"

(the second question stummped me, cuz i actually dont know the answer. I said to win the world for Jesus, which was exactly what they wanted me to hear, cuz it led them right to the third question - and I would argue the key in all evangelism)

"What is your view on Jesus"

(Jesus is Lord, fully God and fully man, Saviour)

"Oh, so you believe in the Trininty"

(which is where they were going the whole time, and by my answers led them right to it)

Then I started asking them questions, and they werent stumped at all, had an answer for each question. They knew there stuff.

I dont agree, nor do I oppose, direct evangelism, Im more into relationship...but there are times when direct evangelism needs to, and will happen, and I need to know my stuff. I need to be prepared and ask the right questions.

These two morman missionaries knew there stuff, they knew what to ask, and how to answer.

When I am directly evangelising, which generally is Street Combat or brigades, I do more of the talking and rather then asking questions to see where the other person is at, I guess I preach directly...I think I should ask more questions? Doesnt hurt to try somethign new...
